Following Sunday’s 8-6 loss against the Washington Nationals, the Milwaukee Brewers have dropped five consecutive games.

The defeat came after Christian Yelich’s injury, who exited the contest in the fifth inning after experiencing left hamstring tightness. After the game, Brewers manager Pat Murphy had this to say:

“We’re most likely going to get some bad news on Yelich,” manager Pat Murphy told reporters after the game, including MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy.

Milwaukee’s skipper was correct.

“Breaking: Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich’s hamstring injury is expected to sideline the star for a month,” Sean Wright wrote on X. “Yelich exited yesterday’s contest and was replaced by Gary Sanchez.”

Sanchez, who made headlines for a puzzling decision that injured left-hander Kye Harrison on Saturday, popped out to the catcher in the pinch-hit role.

Before his injury, Yelich looked like the version of himself that helped him win the NL MVP in 2018. The left-handed hitter slashed .314/.375/.451 with a homer and 10 RBIs in 56 trips to the plate.

Sanchez should see an increased workload at DH while Yelich is out, and Jake Bauers and Blake Perkins could receive more playing time in the outfield.
