Through the first week of the college baseball season, the Texas Longhorns have been unstoppable. They are off to a 7-0 start due to a potent offense and an elite pitching staff. While they have received contributions from everyone on the roster, freshman Anthony Pack Jr. has stood out.
As the Longhorns have been one of the best teams in the country, Pack has posted a .429 batting average in 21 at-bats. He has also shown some power with three extra base hits, including two doubles. Regardless of the opponent, the California native has found a way to get on base.
While the talented outfielder has made headlines with his bat, he has caused headaches with his speed. He has stolen two bases, the second most on the team. Due to his ability to make an impact in various ways, Pack has been hard to keep out of the lineup. That has been impressive considering the Longhorns offense includes Ethan Mendoza, Aiden Robbins, and Carson Tinney.

Although the regular season is far from over, Pack has already placed himself in elite company. He has the second-highest batting average on the team, trailing Mendoza, who is hitting .462. Mendoza and Pack are the only Longhorns who have a batting average higher than .400 so far this season. That is not a bad place for Pack to be in.
After entering the 2026 campaign with high expectations, Pack has shown why he is one of the best players in his class. He has hit the ball with authority and not looked overmatched by the more advanced competition. For a team with national title aspirations, the Milikan High Alum has shown he can be an instant difference maker.
Over the next few months, Pack will be a player to watch as look to continue being a key piece of the Longhorns success.
