KCPD: Man in critical condition after jumping from parking garage to escape arrest
KCPD says he was a person of interest in a shots-fired, hit-and-run case in Independence.
Kansas City, Missouri, police say a man is in critical condition after he jumped from a parking garage downtown in an effort to escape arrest. Police say around 6:30 p.m. Sunday officers were helping Independence police look for a person of interest in a shots-fired call in connection with a hit-and-run in Independence. At that time they got a call about a man inside 920 Main damaging offices, who matched the description of the person Independence police were looking for. Officers saw the man scaling a rooftop from the building into an adjoining parking garage. When officers tried to take him into custody, police say he jumped over the edge of the garage and fell to the ground level, where he was arrested.Police say the man had serious injuries and was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition.
