PLYMOUTH, CT (WFSB) – A high school student has died and a younger sibling was critically injured in a shooting that happened Friday night in Plymouth.

The school district alerted parents to the shooting in a letter Saturday morning, offering counseling services to families and staff members.

Police were called to a home at 104 North Main Street around 7 p.m. on Friday for the report of a shooting.

Two children, ages 15 and 7, were located inside the home when officers arrived.

Police determined that 43-year-old Naomi Bell had shot them. She is the mother of the children.

Bell has been arrested and charged with murder and criminal attempt to commit murder. She’s being held on a $2.5 million bond.

State Police said this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

The scene remained active early Saturday morning as police collected evidence.

The sibling who is in critical condition is a student at Fisher Elementary School.

A third sibling, who attends Eli Terry, was not home at the time of the shooting.

The school district said counseling services will be provided to families and staff members Saturday and Sunday.

A virtual candlelight vigil is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. It will be livestreamed by the Terryville Congregational Church.
