A Menomonee Falls woman is concerned after she says she received a completed absentee ballot belonging to another voter.Jennifer contacted WISN 12 News Saturday night to ask for help investigating the mix-up.She asked not to use her last name.”I opened it up and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh,'” Jennifer said.She said she voted absentee but realized she forgot to sign her ballot before she mailed it back.Jennifer received a letter from the village advising her she’d sent in her ballot in an “incomplete certificate envelope” that she needed to properly sign and resubmit it.”I thought maybe I did mess it up, but then when I looked and I saw it was somebody else’s name,” Jennifer said.She said she was shocked when she received a ballot belonging to another voter.The woman lives in Ward 19.The other voter lives in Ward 8 in Menomonee Falls — 7 miles away.WISN 12 News contacted several Menomonee Falls officials but none were available to speak about the situation Sunday afternoon.It’s not clear how the mix-up happened.”I just would have thought they would have had a lot more double checks in place to make sure you’re sending people the right ballots,” she said. “I’m probably not the only one that this has happened to.”Jennifer wants to know where her completed ballot is.”Now somebody knows who I voted for and in this day and age, that’s really scary,” Jennifer said. “It could potentially affect the election if so many votes are getting lost.”More information about the ballot mix-up could be available Monday.More than 1.3 million absentee ballots have already been requested by Wisconsin voters.
