Two construction workers fell 20 feet while working on a bridge over I-395 in Brewer Monday.

Two construction workers were hurt Monday when they fell 20 feet while working on the Wilson Street overpass bridge project along I-395 in Brewer.State police said the men were removing several braces connecting two bridge beams Monday afternoon when the temporary wooden walkway they were standing on suddenly shifted and fell to the roadway below.Fortunately, there were no vehicles passing by as the men fell. They were both taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Their conditions were not clear Tuesday morning.Work on the project was suspended after the incident. Federal officials from OSHA are now investigating.The off-ramps near the incident were closed for several hours while debris was cleared.

BREWER, Maine —

Two construction workers were hurt Monday when they fell 20 feet while working on the Wilson Street overpass bridge project along I-395 in Brewer.

State police said the men were removing several braces connecting two bridge beams Monday afternoon when the temporary wooden walkway they were standing on suddenly shifted and fell to the roadway below.
