Former Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dick Lucas died Wednesday after a battle with the coronavirus, the team announced on Friday. Lucas was 86.

Lucas was a member of Philadelphia’s 1960 NFL championship squad.

He played four seasons with the Eagles (1960-63). In 1961, five of his eight receptions went for touchdowns.

Lucas posted career-best totals of 19 catches and 236 yards in 1962.

Lucas played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1958 and had four receptions for 47 yards before sustaining a leg injury that caused him to miss the 1959 season.

Overall, Lucas caught 34 passes for 384 yards and six touchdowns in 42 career NFL games.

Lucas played college football at Boston College and was a 10th-round draft pick of the Chicago Bears in 1956. He spent the next two years in the Marines before joining the Steelers.

Lucas served a stint as president of the Philadelphia Eagles Alumni Association after his playing career.
