Rapper Kanye West, second left, stands up as he speaks during a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Rapper Kanye West plugged his ties to Adidas during a White House meeting with Donald Trump on Thursday, saying the president had given him the “heart” to partner up with the sneaker maker.

Wearing a “Make America Great Again” cap, West spoke solo in the Oval Office for about 10 minutes while Trump looked on, mostly in silence, at one of his high-profile celebrity supporters. The White House said West would be there to discuss issues including manufacturing and prison reform.

“You gave me the heart to go to Adidas,” West told Trump. West and the company have collaborated on the Adidas Yeezy Boost line of sneakers. Speaking earlier this week on CNBC, Adidas ADS, -1.28% ADDYY, -0.11%   Chief Executive Kasper Rorsted said the company is “extremely happy” with its relationship with West. In the same interview Rorsted said Adidas had “outgrown” competitor NKE, -0.72%  globally and in the U.S., but “there is no doubt that Nike is coming back.”

West collaborated with Nike as well but severed ties with the company in 2013.

West also told reporters in the Oval Office that Trump gave him a “Superman cape” to help do good. He said his parents had separated so there was not “a lot of male energy in my home.”

Alluding to the Kardashian family, he added there he’s married “to a family where, you know, there’s not a lot of male energy. It’s beautiful, though.”

Another proposal — a hydrogen-powered plane West dubbed the iPlane One that he said Apple AAPL, -1.06%  would help develop.

“That was quite something,” Trump said when West finished.
